Liberty

However much you try, you can never talk enough about liberty. For liberty is, after all, the word to deal with, the real end for those who understand life. When Nietzsche said that by wanting you will be free, he was, once again, hiting the mark. Because you have to want, you need to have your own aims for your future. Being free is daring to create your own values. Don’t allow other people to decide for you. If you do so, if you avoid the responsibility of liberty, there will be no real hapiness for you, only a comfortable but poor sensation of lack of problems.
But that is not what life is made for. If you disdain liberty, you will always have the feeling that there is something amiss in your life. And that can’t be but a lack of liberty. Yes, because, although you don’t realise, in some moment in you past, when you were in a very delicate crossroad, maybe you avoided making your own decisions, choose the easy option, and went on walking along other’s roads. You thought that liberty was a heavy burden. And you were right, because liberty is not something easy to live with. That is what makes liberty so amazing. It is the best present you can have, something absolutely necessary to live and, at the same time, something very hard, a great responsibility, a permanent open question over you. It is like an abyss, attractive and dangerous at once.
But future can’t be a closed window. You have only one life. Try to invent some other possibilities. Try to play different games every day. Try to meet new people, reading new books. You can start by writing what you really would like to live into the next weeks. Don’t stop. Live. Imagine. Be free.
